Sunday Guide: Saratoga Springs, with Kids! By Jennifer Taber VanDerwerken
Beautiful Saratoga Springs, New York is often called “The Summer Place to Be”, when major tourist attractions like the Saratoga Race Course, the New York City Ballet summer residency, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center are in full swing, and beckoning to tourists from across the globe.
But Saratoga is just as vibrant and gorgeous in the fall, with bright bursts of foliage, temperate weather, and the always bustling downtown attractions ready to be enjoyed. Saratoga is also a wonderful place to call home for locals, and as such, offers plenty of recreation for families.
Here’s a family-friendly guide to one of the prettiest little cities you’ll ever see, for the special time of year when New York puts on her golden colors, and shines in all her autumnal glory.
Where to Stay:
The Adelphi Hotel (365 Broadway)
This historic, boutique hotel isn't short on swank, but their welcoming attitude to kids (and pets!) and their premium location right on Broadway makes it a great place to stay for families. There are multiple suites available to accommodate families, and two great eateries located right inside the hotel.
The Gideon Putnam (24 Gideon Putnam Road)
Another historic gem, this hotel is located right inside Saratoga Spa State Park, which makes it perfect for the family who wants to walk out of the hotel and stroll right to geysers, creeks, natural spring water fountains, or The Automobile Museum.
Where to Eat:
For breakfast, you have a plethora of options at your disposal. You can sit down for scrumptious cinnamon roll pancakes at local favorite, Sweet Mimis (47 Phila Street), or grab a delicious bagel and coffee at Uncommon Grounds (402 Broadway) and take it to go. Triangle Diner (400 Maple Avenue) is also a perennial favorite, offering inventive, elevated takes on classic dishes, like eggs benedict, and BLTs. All of these spots are also open for lunch, and make great options for even the pickiest eater.
Any parent traveling with young kids knows that when the energy starts flagging, a little sweet treat can save the day. Saratoga has got you covered with Mrs. London’s (464 Broadway), a charming bakery offering patisseries, breads, cookies, and delicious coffees. Kilwin’s (420 Broadway) candy shop, which you can scout just by the delicious smell of their caramel apples, has gleaming cases filled with every kind of chocolate treat you can imagine, and wonderful ice cream too.
For dinner, Druther’s (381 Broadway) is always fun, with an accessible menu, outdoor seating, and a fun, casual vibe. Their macaroni and cheese is perhaps their signature dish, and what kid doesn’t love that? Forno (541 Broadway) is a great spot for delicious Italian food, and if the weather is with you, their porch is a perfect spot to people-watch while you dine.
The Brook Tavern is a warm and charming restaurant, just a quick stroll from the bustle of downtown and located in a picturesque neighborhood of sprawling Victorian homes.
The Wishing Well, open since 1936, is a favorite of locals and a great spot to make special family memories on your visit.
Where to Shop:
Because Saratoga is such a family-friendly community, there is no shortage of children’s stores to browse or pick up that special souvenir. Lex and Cleo (454 Broadway, unit 2) is a charming shop with a high-end selection of beautiful clothes, stuffed animals, and toys. G. Wiliker’s (461 Broadway) is a consummate old-fashioned toy store, with incredible year-round window displays and everything from the most classic games to trendy toys. And Northshire Bookstore (424 Broadway), one of the most popular independent bookstores in the northeast, has an entire second floor dedicated to the wonderful world of children’s books. The staff is knowledgeable and kind, and they often host children’s reading events and activities.
Things to Do:
Upstate New York is apple country, and if you’d like to head to an orchard to pick your own while visiting, you’ll find plenty of options in Saratoga County and beyond. Saratoga Apple (1174 Route 29, Schuylerville) is a favorite among locals.
The Children’s Museum at Saratoga (65 South Broadway) is a lovely little museum design for children aged 7 and younger, and houses excellent hands-on exhibits to delight your child’s imagination.
Beautiful Congress Park (320 Broadway), located right on Broadway with all of the shops and restaurants, is home to a historic wooden carousel, which you can ride for just $1.00. Go for a spin on weekends in the fall, from 11 AM to 6 PM. And don’t miss the Congress Park ducks who’ll likely approach you looking for a treat! Yaddo (312 Union Avenue) is a world-famous artist’s retreat, and their gorgeous manicured gardens are open to the public. This past summer, they installed the Yaddo Reads Lending Library for young readers where you can take or leave a book. Take a stroll through the garden and a peek at the koi fish in the multiple fountains. It’s also the perfect place for a picnic.
Saratoga is famed for its mineral springs, which the Victorians believed could cure almost any ailment. There are active springs and drinking fountains throughout the city, some flowing with crystal clear water, others with slightly fizzy, highly mineralized waters. Children will love getting to taste test the assorted fountains for those that are fresh and appetizing, and those that you can smell from a few feet away. Here’s a great guide to finding them: https://www.saratoga.com/things-to-do/springs/

We have a gorgeous 20 minute exclusive Fall Foliage Show on Joie de Vivre Network
We love every season of the year. However, there is something poetic about Fall Foliage in the Adirondacks, New England and Canada. There is a reason people travel from around the World to visit during the Autumn months. Having grown up in Upstate New York, close to the Vermont border, was the most idyllic childhood. The scent of Cider Donuts, Apple orchards, Hot Cider and more perfumed the air. I still can’t believe how lucky I was to be surrounded by this beauty my entire life, and it never ever gets old. The mild sunny days enhance the brilliant colors of the Foliage, shimmering onto lakes, rivers and ocean. Evenings are cozy, bundled up in chunky sweaters, wrapped in plaid Pendleton blankets and Fall Fashions on moonlit hay rides. Sitting by the outdoor fireplace, sipping hot mulled cider spiked with a little Bourbon remains one of my favorite things to do.

Sunday Guides, Jersey City Edition
By Michele Rosenthal
For several years, we have been going to Bon Vivant in NYC for their Petit Fours. They are fabulously delicious! Soaked in a variety of flavors like rose, lavender, coffee, and lemon; they are decorated in delicate floral detail by the talented hands of artisans. We love gifting them to friends. They recently moved their “Cake Café” to Jersey City and it is beautiful. The interiors are chic, fresh, and a feast for the eyes. You can place orders in advance on their website or you can choose in person.
“The exquisite creations are made with the finest ingredients and crafted with care and attention to detail. Discover the art of indulgence at Bon Vivant.”
“Create your own beautiful box of delicate cakes for a special celebration. Personalize by composing flavors and including a message card. Please check online for hours. Order ahead to ensure stock and on time delivery. Choose between

“Cake Café located in Jersey City at the entrance of the 1,200-acre Liberty State Park and Light Rail station. On the corner of a new luxury 300+ unit residential building featuring 21,000 sq ft of courtyard.” 295 Johnston AveJersey City, NJ 07304”
“Bon Vivant is a luxury boutique that specializes in miniature cakes and petits fours.Whether you are looking for a decadent treat for yourself or a stunning gift for someone special, Bon Vivant has something to suit your taste and style.”
We like to begin our day in Jersey City enjoying cappuccinos & petit fours. Then it’s off to Liberty State Park, where the wonderful views of the incredible skyline and Statue of Liberty never get old. Liberty State Park is one of the state's most beautiful parks. It is located on the shores of the Hudson River with views of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. There are popular restaurants nearby with views that will dazzle, like the Liberty House Restaurant.
For dinner, we decided to try something more casual yet still beautiful with a European bistro atmosphere and menu. We went to Satis Bistro where the service was incredible. The outdoor seating had a quaint atmosphere. There is a charming little bar area tucked away. You must pop in there; it’s so cute! My endive salad was balanced perfectly with a lemony truffle dressing & the gnocchi dish melted in my mouth. It was so delicious! My husband loved the steak frites. The streets are lined with cute shops, restaurants, bars and more!
Steak frites and a glass of red wine transports us back to a Bistro in Paris, France
Let’s Take our “Out To Dinner Bistro Look” to the next level! Elevate Fall fashion with a two piece sequin outfit! Swap out that jacket for a cashmere sweater. We love Faux leather dresses and stunning florals. Shorter to mid length polished nails in rich autumn hues with chunky gold bracelets and stacked rings are so chic! These looks are all about putting the “ooh la la” in Fall fashion! Book Michele at Paris House for a fashion consultation & personal shopping!

Sunday Guides, Kennebunkport Maine
Article by Michele Rosenthal
We would like to thank our wonderful sponsors for this week’s Sunday Guides: Spaces, Hacklebarney Farm, Christen Holly Photography, Dannah For Men, and Skyland World Travel. Please see more information below.
Maine is one of the most unique & recognizable places in the world. The pristine natural beauty is straight out of a novel that you can’t put down & never want to end. It’s so idyllic it seems unreal, but it is! Now we are sharing our favorite spots in Kennebunkport.
From the sound of waves crashing against the rocks along steep coastlines to sailboats passing by picturesque fishing villages– there are few places, if any quite like Maine.
Kennebunkport is our favorite! It's incredibly quiet where we stay and we were met with many friendly waves saying hello from afar. We enjoyed quiet evenings drinking wine on the patio before we were off to dinner. We travel the world on both business and pleasure, and Maine is the one place we continue to return to each summer. It feels like home.
Mornings began with coffee and pastries from the local shops, patisseries, and diners; followed by long hikes up the coast. Adventure awaits by foot, bike, car, or scenic trolley rides. The homes, ocean views & rocky cliffs are quintessential Maine, New England. Just a few minutes up the coast, you’ll find Walker’s Point Bush Estate.
Continue back down to the shopping area, and you’ll find Goose Rocks Beach. It’s small and peaceful: perfect to read a good book, rest, or simply watch the boats pass by. It’s a short walk from several hotels including The Colony Hotel, which features grand views of the ocean.
In our opinion, Maine lobster is the best in the world! We also love the lobster in Nova Scotia & various places in New England. Homemade candy, quaint shops, and beautiful beaches are plentiful! After dinner, head over to Mabels and don’t miss out on their homemade Maine blueberry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
For those who like a little nightlife, it’s the perfect blend of peacefulness and fun activities like shopping and fine dining.
No visit to Kennebunkport would be complete without dining at Mabel’s Lobster Claw. It’s delicious & quite busy during the summer months. A reservation is recommended, however they always try their best to get you a table. They have an adjacent “shack” where we get our lobster orders to go when I do a catered dinner affair on our hotel patio. It’s superb!
We love passing by charming cottages on our way into town. Continue over the little bridge into Kennebunk. There you will find the Clam Shack, another favorite of locals, new visitors, and longtime travelers to the area.
Continue up the street a bit to Mornings In Paris. They open early and make delicious pastries & coffee. By 8am the line is out the door & for a good reason– it’s fabulous! Time it right and the warm straight-from-the-oven pastries will melt in your mouth!
About a 3 minute drive from town is another favorite, an old fashioned diner, Mikes All Day Breakfast. They have another location in Arundel. We cannot recommend the lobster omelets enough! They are usually only available at the Kennebunk location. The spinach, cheddar cheese, fresh lobster, and herbs are outstanding! There are many things to choose from on their menu. They open at 8 AM but get there early because the line gets long fast!
If you love flowers, gardens, unique gifts and beautifully curated stores, Snug Harbor Farm is not to be missed. It’s a delightful way to spend an hour browsing the gift shop and grounds.
When it comes to shopping some of my favorites are Spaces and Dannah For Men. I always go to Spaces to find something perfect for entertaining at our hotel, an outfit to wear out, home accessories, unique gifts, and more. It’s visually stunning and not to be missed! When it comes to men's clothing, unique gifts and accessories, Dannah For Men is perfection and one of the best men’s stores anywhere! Also we recommend visiting La La Luna, their new women’s store up the road at 45 Ocean Ave.
Below is our curated list of some of our favorites! There are many more that can be found online!

Paris Café Tour
Paris France Cafe’s
Article & Travel Photography, Michele Rosenthal
For this week's Sunday Guides & Article we will take a Paris Café tour. Many of which you may have heard of or been to. Perhaps there will be a few new ones to add to your travel plans!
Café Amourette in Passy features lovely views just a quick walk from the Eiffel Tower. I love the smoked salmon with creme fraiche and the cappuccino was very good. If you are looking for a quiet area far from crowds and something close to a landmark; this is perfect!
Café Aéro is another lovely café in the Passy neighborhood. It is where the locals go and everyone seems to know each other. It’s not fancy and might need a little makeover in my opinion. However, the delicious croissants, coffee, and kind staff elevates it to a wonderful eatery. We will continue to go when we are in Passy. I miss my mornings there and seeing my friend Mimi.
Le Café Marly is one of the most iconic and gorgeous Parisian cafes! With fabulous views of the Louvre and Pyramids, along with fantastic service. Don’t miss the Chocolat Viennois, it is so delicious! The chocolate and whipped cream is out of this world and its rich chocolate flavor and whipped Chantilly cream are sophisticated and not overly sweet. We also enjoy ordering cheese and wine and relaxing here.
Le Fumoir Cafe is a gem and a close walk from the Louvre. I adored the interior decor and the white wine was delicious. Pop into the nearby Bo & Mie Boulangerie Creative for breads and croissants. The feta olive bread and the passion fruit donut-croissants were so yummy!!!
Le Passy Café is another delightful café in Passy! It was so lovely having a cup of coffee there. The flaky buttery croissants and this beautiful view of the Tour Eiffel are unforgettable moments.
Café Fleurus is a charming petit café by Le Jardin du Luxembourg. The Lillet with tonic water, lemon and ice was so refreshing on a warm summer day.
Les Deux Magots is one of the most famous spots to people-watch, eat, drink coffee, and then shop in the elegant Saint Germain de Prés
Café de Flore is located right next door to Les Deux Magots is another very famous Café in Paris.
Items We Travel With And Fall Foliage Looks to Inspire You On Your Next Adventure.
We are curating a beautiful floral design class in Paris this December complete with chocolat chaud, croissants, light refreshments! There will be a small group trip to Versailles & an antique shopping trip available too! This is perfect for solo travelers, small groups, beginner - advanced floral designers! Details coming soon! Only a few spots will be available. Email us!
Niagara On The Lake, Canada
3 minute read:
Niagara On The Lake (NOTL) is a delightful quaint town located only minutes from Niagara Falls in the Province of Ontario. From the moment you enter idyllic NOTL you will feel as though you stepped back in time. Enjoy scenic drives passing by vineyards, historic homes, old fashioned country farm stands, and flowers everywhere! If you go during the summer months stock up on fresh cherries, the best pies & turnovers; they are delicious!
Watch the sailboats pass you as you dine outdoors at Queens Landing. Then grab an Aperol Spritz in Pillar and Post’s gorgeous garden. A gentle breeze from Lake Ontario provides a lovely respite from the summer heat. Autumn is another favorite time of ours to visit. Walk along paths by the banks of the river and enjoy a picnic lunch by the gazebo. In Queens Royal Park, streets are filled with lush trees, horse drawn carriage tours, and vibrant flowers. There is something beautiful at every glance and around every corner.
There is a British feel to the charming shops lining Queen and King Street, surrounded by 19th century architecture, pubs, and delightful bakeries. Our favorite is the Niagara Home Bakery. Don’t miss their delicious cinnamon buns, coffee, linzer tarts, and other savory items. Stroll through the Heritage District and enjoy shopping, dining, and browse unique shops to find that special gift for a loved one, or perhaps treat yourself! There are bed-and-breakfasts, cozy inns: many with fireplaces, thermal spas, outdoor and indoor pools and fine dining.
For the active traveler, you will delight in the bike paths, swimming pools, yoga classes, and golf courses. Play a round on the oldest operating golf course in North America, Niagara-On-The-Lake Golf Club, then grab a colorful Adirondack chair, and sit by the water enjoying a cocktail, dinner, and watching unforgettable gorgeous sunsets.
In this article we explore a drive through the Finger Lakes up to Niagara On The Lakes, Canada. A quaint small town with fabulous vineyards, picturesque Lake Ontario, a gorgeous golf course, and well appointed hotels. More on the finger lakes here: https://theparishouse.com/blog-1/canada-wine
Depending on your route you will drive by the Canadian Falls, the famous Flower Clock and the Botanical Gardens. Niagara Parks does an incredible job of maintaining everything impeccably. There are trolleys and transportation to get you everywhere effortlessly. We recommend three nights and four days to see the highlights.
What To See and Do
Queens Royal Park features trails and a gazebo that are meticulously cared for and a great pride of the community. Enjoy dinner and theatrics at Shaws Theater on Queen Street. Some of our favorite vineyards include Ice Wine, Ravine, Two Sisters, and Pellars. Sights and adventures await at Niagara Falls, The Flower Clock, Botanical Gardens, Gorge, & Butterfly Conservatory.
Nearby Niagara Falls there is something for everyone, from the adventurous to the foodie to the photographer! There are zip lines over the falls, tours, and more. There are easy & affordable modes of transportation to get you everywhere.
Where to Stay? We recommend Pillar and Post, a well appointed hotel with many amenities. Queens Landing offers elegant decor, waterside dining, trolley pickups, and complimentary shuttles for guests. For a chic contemporary vibe with courtyard dining try 124 Hotel and Spa. There are also inns by the golf course, overlooking the lake and wine trail like Oban Inn.
Inspired by Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny, France. Take note of the underplanting of nasturtium flowers. Enjoy a stroll through acres of immaculately landscaped gardens. Walk over the bridge to admire the water Lillies and enjoy an aperol spritz from the nearby garden cafe.
Interested in creating your own rose garden at home!! Check out our lovely rose garden article here: https://theparishouse.com/blog-1/2023/6/25/a92mrvwy2hcr3v29c3fp5puzyver13
Hotel Spotlight: Pillar and Post & Queens Landing
We have stayed many times at both Queens Landing & Pillar and Post. The service is wonderful. Pillar and Post has both indoor and outdoor pools, thermal spa, poolside cafe and fine dining. Enjoy complimentary shuttle service into town and their sister properties. The hotel will be more than happy to arrange your dinner at their hotel or perhaps outside on the patio overlooking the water at Queens Landing just moments up the road. They also have door to door service on the trolley, which is a great way to explore and do the wine trail! The hotel is about 10-15 minutes into town and a quick shuttle ride to the lake. We would be happy to help you plan your getaway to Niagara On The Lake.

Thank you to Vintage Hotels for upgrading us and impeccable service during our stay.
Where To Dine? We love Ravine Vineyard! The farm to table is delicious. It has a smaller, more intimate vibe. Two Sisters has a gorgeous covered terrace overlooking the vineyards. For a lovely spot on the water, try the patio at Queens Landing. Sitting poolside at Pillar and Post is always fun and as their guests can enjoy cocktails and snacks. As mentioned, no visit to NOTL would be complete without our daily visits to Niagara Home Bakery, it is charming and delicious. The Spinach puff pastries are so yummy! Always call ahead for reservations and to make sure if they are open.
Vineyard Transportation? Take a shuttle from several hotels, a car service, or hop on the trolley, and visit as many vineyards as you like ! We have also rented a private limousine service which was so much fun and tailored to our itinerary. The vintage hotels such as Pillar and Post and Queens Landing provide an amazing shuttle service with knowledgeable drivers to let you in on the best spots in town.

Shopping? Check out Queens Street and Kings Street along with the vineyards for wine, wine glasses, artisan gifts, food and more.
What To Pack? Comfortable shoes, wedges, stylish flats, sneakers, heels for dining at night. Sun dresses, scarves, stylish blazers, dressy shorts, sweaters for evenings by the water, bathing suits, coverups. Polo style shirts and tailored pants take the men from wine tasting, golf course, dining and more. Please note: passports or a special New York state license is required when entering into Canada. Always check on all restrictions and proper travel documents in advance.

Blueberry Cocktail
A few years ago we were in LA at @cara_hotel , it’s the chicest boutique hotel located in the Los Feliz neighborhood. The food and cocktails were incredible!
With blueberry & blackberry season upon us, we thought we would share a few recipes. From mocktails to cocktails- pop on over to our blog! Theparishouse.com
One of the easiest methods is is to simply muddle with a little sugar & fresh mint add some lemon/lime slices. Or make a blueberry or blackberry reduction on the stove with a little water, sugar to taste & fresh berries. (We pick ours from our gardens) chill in fridge then from there you can make mocktail or cocktail versions. We linked the blueberry smash recipe on the blog with vodka. I like to add to sparkling water for a delicious mocktail. You can press through a sieve but we prefer the taste and texture of keeping it as is!
Add mint if you like or some violette liquor top with Prosecco. Definitely add a pesticide free edible flower for garnish
There are so many variations on this. Another helpful tip is to freeze your berries on a baking sheet then add to zip lock bags & freeze.
Should we put this on the Paris House Garden party menu?!

Brooklyn Pizza, Museums, & Rooftop Cocktails at Loopy Doopy
Out And About With Paris House Brooklyn Edition
By, Michele Rosenthal
We love traveling both near and far and sharing our adventures with our readers. We have been writing on travel for over 30 years & are excited to continue sharing what to do, what to see, where to eat, shop, stay, what to pack in your suitcase and much more. We offer a full service travel, fashion styling & event planning business to help you plan Unforgettable Events & Trips!
We started off at The Brooklyn Museum for the Andy Warhol exhibit, (I found this very interesting, especially everything from his earlier years, prior to his 80’s fame, I loved this exhibit & TBH I was skeptical, as I have very mixed feelings on him) I enjoyed learning more about his childhood and I learned a lot from this exhibit. (Please check online for dates of gallery exhibits, restaurant hours, rooftop bar hours before going to ensure an enjoyable outing)
Then it was off for pizza & local beer in Brooklyn -my 2nd favorite pizza in the world, (Naples Italy being my favorite but honestly this is truly just as delicious. I’m Italian so my love of Italy is immense),
Barboncino is outstanding, we love the soppressata with a side of chili honey, it’s fabulous (thanks @todddurm for telling us about @barboncinopizza - It was our 2nd time & can’t wait to return. I cook & bake often so I’m a bit fussy & I’ll always be honest with you - this pizza is FABULOUS!
We then headed back into Manhattan for cocktails at Loopy Doopy rooftop at The Conrad Hotel. The weather was absolutely gorgeous & I had so much fun with my son Sam. They limit the amount of people on the roof, and we have found going early or on a weekday is best. You must try their spiked popsicles in Prosecco! They have a bar menu & you can also dine downstairs in the hotel & weather permitting there are plenty of outside cafés. It feels like a touch of Europe in the financial district of NYC!
Nearby attractions are the waterfront, Freedom Tower, plenty of shopping, and more! We will share more restaurants in the area soon!

Cliveden House, England
Out And About With Paris House England Edition
By Michele Rosenthal
My recent stay at Cliveden House in June was something dreams are made of. Saying that it was straight out of a fairytale is an understatement. I flew British Airways to London arriving at 6:30am. My private driver (arranged by Cliveden House) whisked me away in a luxury Mercedes on a quick 30 minute journey. As we entered the long scenic road, passing the Fountain of Love, We approached the Manor Home built in 1666. Any possibility of jet lag was quickly replaced by joy and excitement of all the adventures that lie ahead at this Fabled Castle.
The Hotel was gracious enough to set me up in a room to relax inand use the spa until my hotel room was ready. The weather was sunny and in the mid 70’s each day with no rain. My beautifully designed room, named after famed interior designer, Nancy Lancaster, was stunning and included a private jacuzzi on an English terrace surrounded with English roses and view of the gilded clock tower, absolutely charming.
Cliveden House was originally built in 1666 by 2nd Duke of Buckingham and has the most glorious spa with delicious fruit smoothies, walled flower gardens, spectacular views of formal parterre gardens, a Juliette balcony with views of the River Thames, a pool landscaped in lavender and roses planted en masse and perfuming the air, delicious high tea and much more. The breakfast was so beautiful it looked like a renaissance painting. I enjoyed coffee overlooking the expansive formal gardens each morning.
Honestly, it was hard to leave here during my stay! I did plan wonderful private day tours to Stonehenge, and I revisited London & The Cotswolds, more on that in England parts 2,3,&4
History on Cliveden House sourced from Their website “ Cliveden House is a privately owned five AA Red Star award-winning hotel, our story is one of over 350 years of powerful personalities, iconic parties and scandalous affairs. Built-in 1666 by the 2nd Duke of Buckingham, as a gift to his mistress, Cliveden House has remained a pinnacle of intrigue and glamour for the elite.
Now, our Grade I stately home set upon 376 acres of beautifully presented National Trust grounds is a luxurious five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel and spa, ready and waiting to welcome you to create your own moment in Cliveden's history.”
The highlight of my time at Cliveden House was the Champagne High Tea Boat Ride Down River Thames . The most unforgettable and delicious High Tea I have ever experienced. I am still dreaming about the sconces, clotted cream, jam, tea sandwiches & Champagne. I have had many amazing high teas around the world, but this tea was extraordinary! My private Mercedes drove me down beyond the parterre gardens to The Cliveden Boathouse on River Thames. It was there, we began our scenic journey on one of the most beautiful idyllic parts of the Thames. The river is aprx 215 miles long (depending on who you ask!) and I was told the Queen owns all of the unclaimed Swans on the river. Now that is a real life fairytale.
After my scenic boat ride I changed into a yellow velvet gown and caplet with crystal details. I walked through the formal gardens to the main house where I enjoyed a martini on the limestone terrace complete with balustrades and magnificent views. I promise you will sleep well on the most comfortable bedding and quietness. There is a gift basket filled with spa shoes and towels if you want an evening Of relaxation in the hot tub after dinner, As mentioned, my room had a private one.

Jersey City, NJ Outing

Out And About With Paris House, Jersey City Edition
I have been going to Bon Vivant in NYC for several years to get their Petit Fours. They are fabulously delicious. Soaked in a variety of flavors such as, rose, lavender, coffee, lemon and more. They are decorated with delicate floral detail by the hands of artisans. I love gifting them to friends. They recently moved their store to Jersey City & it is beautiful. The interiors are chic, fresh, a feast for the eyes. I placed my order in advance on their website
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Bon+Vivant+New+York/@40.7113035,-74.0576637,20z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89c25a18c68987e3:0x5bad4ef5c353df21!8m2!3d40.7111943!4d-74.0576121 https://bonvivantnewyork.com and planned a fun day around our visit to Bon Vivant.
My husband and I began our day together enjoying cappuccino & petit fours, then it was off to Liberty State Park. Taking in the incredible sky line & Statue of Liberty never gets old. The view is wonderful. Located on the shores of the Hudson River, with views of Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Liberty State Park is one of the state's most beautiful parks. There are popular restaurants nearby with views that will dazzle, such as Liberty House Restaurant
For dinner, We decided to try something more casual, with a European Bistro atmosphere and menu. We went to Satis Bistro https://satisbistro.com and it was very good. The services was incredible & a quaint atmosphere with outdoor seating.
There is a charming little bar area tucked away, you must pop in there, it’s so cute! My endive salad was balanced perfectly with a lemony truffle dressing & the gnocchi dish melted in my mouth. So delicious! My husband loved the steak frites.
The streets are lined with cute shops, restaurants, bars and more. I hope you enjoyed reading our travel guides on Jersey City

Èze, France
By Teddy Rosenthal & Michele Rosenthal
At every turn in the wondrous world of France, you are guaranteed a unique experience. In the stunning village of Èze in the south of France, you’ll find just how vast and historic even the smaller locations in this country can be. From jaw-dropping views to mouth-watering seafood, Èze is the destination of your dreams.
It’s not every day that you get to experience such a well-rounded landscape. At the edge of the village, dip your toes into the clearest salty sea, blue and deep enough to wash away the rest of the world. As you travel throughout the town, check out the local shops and architecture. built into the historic stone cliffs, Château de la Chèvre d’Or and Château Eza are two five-star hotels where you can stay during your visit. Moving to the top, you’ll want to grab a pair of comfortable shoes as you hike up Nietzsche’s Path, and once you get there, make sure to take in the sight — the view of where the Côte d’Azur (French Riviera) meets the Mediterranean sea is one you will never forget. Also at the top, a must-see stop awaits you. Le Jardin Exotique d’Èze is a vast world of succulents and stunning flowers that can only thrive in such a welcoming climate.
When you’re ready to explore a bit more, there’s still plenty of ground to cover. If you’re hungry, dine at the local restaurants for the freshest of seafood. We recommend trying the bouillabaisse, a delectable fish stew that comes right from the ports. After making your way through everything Èze has to offer, you can still take a quick ride to the nearby cities of Nice, Monaco, and Cannes (the latter of which is home to the famous Cannes Film Festival which takes place in May). Each of these cities provides unforgettable shopping trips for fashion, home decor, and just about anything else you can think of.
With a population of less than 2,500 people, Èze is a hidden gem. You can explore this glorious nook year-round and choose the south of France as your newest inspiration.

Rome, Italy
It was wonderful returning to Rome, The Eternal City. The weather was around 65 degrees & sunny the entire week. I went in February so that felt very mild compared to the NYC winter weather. It wasn’t crowded & the comfortable temperatures made walking very enjoyable. I love Italy so much, I am 80% Italian and whenever I am there I feel so at home and close to my heritage! The Italians make EVERYONE feel welcome and at home in their beautiful country.
I love to travel, I create travel and fashion content for my business Theparishouse.com , scout locations for photoshoots, meet wonderful people, take incredible informative tours, bring home local recipes & fully immerse myself in the culture. Travel is my greatest passion and I love to share our adventures with my readers. I am a luxury travel writer, however all trips can be curated and enjoyed at every budget.
Day 1 -I flew from the NYC area nonstop to Rome
I stayed at Hotel Splendide Royal, located across from the Borghese gardens & in walking distance to Harry’s Bar, museums, restaurants & more. It is also a quick ride to all the Roman highlights! The concierge at the hotel were excellent and made my stay very enjoyable. I would highly recommend Hotel Splendide Roma. Enjoy breakfast with a view of the Vatican and cocktails on their rooftop with a view of Vatican City. It’s gorgeous.

Day 2- I took a floral design class in Rome, it was lovely. I own a Floral and Event Design Business and love to style with other designers on my travels around the world. Its so fun to share and learn new ideas. Martina hand-selected each flower at the local flower market, in the loveliest shades. The seasonal tulips, ranunculus, and flowers she chose were in the prettiest hues! They looked so pretty all week in my hotel room.
(This was a private class & I had a driver arranged by my hotel. We can plan all your excursions for you and have linked all our tours here & below in our “shop this story” section ).
Day 3 - We began our private tour at the Underground Coliseum - The newest attraction to the Coliseum is the fascinating underground, which was not open the last time I was in Rome. It was incredible to see the mechanics of the elevators, which were used to bring the animals up to the arena, many of these pulley systems are still used in various ways today. It’s interesting to see and learn about the masterful architecture, aqueducts and designs by the Romans. Of course the history of the Coliseum dates back to nearly 2,000 years and if not for the earthquake, would still be fully in tact. Like the saying goes “they don’t make them like the used to”!!! It is quite shocking to be there and try and picture the barbaric games that drew thousands of spectators -and the occasional hungry animal who escaped up into the spectators section!! I also highly recommend visiting at night when it is illuminated in light, it is spectacular and a perfect spot for photos. Rome is indeed the Eternal City. More on that below.
Then it was off to the Sistine Chapel with Bea my guide for the day. Bea was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything we did that day! (This was another private tour & I had a driver arranged by my hotel- taxis and public transportation are also readily available).
Seeing this Masterpiece in the Sistine Chapel, by Michelangelo never fails to leave me in awe.
Day 4- I took a private tour of the Borghese Gardens & Villa Borghese (I booked this with Viator, I always enjoy their tours and guides)
Marco was enthusiastic & incredibly knowledgeable. This was a quick pleasant walk from our hotel ( we popped into Harrys Bar for a late lunch and bellini before our tour). We have linked all of our tours here & below

Day 5- Evening walking tour with Amira
Amira was a ray of sunshine, she was an absolute joy from the moment she picked me up at my hotel. We drove to see all the famous spots at night, Amira went above and beyond to ensure we had the most wonderful evening.
We began our tour at Piazza Navona, built in the 1st century AD on the site of the Stadium of Domitian. We then went to see the Vatican illuminated in evening lights, we visited the Pantheon, The Coliseum, The Mouth of Truth (which you might remember from Roman Holiday) Theater of Pompey where Julius Caesar was murdered, the Temple of Hercules, The Spanish Steps, The Trevi Fountain and Amira pointed out many more sites along the way. We had the most delicious dinner outside in piazza Navona, the Cacio e Pepe and red wine were incredible! I returned to my hotel around 11 pm and had sweet dreams of the most enchanting evening in Roma.

Be mindful of the cobblestone & bring comfortable shoes. I love heels so I opt for a chunky heel boot, wedge, espadrille, fashionable sneaker, etc. I’ll wear my high heels in the hotel typically at the rooftop bars.
