About the Paris House
Editor’s Letter
I begin writing the editor's letter in the Adirondack Mountains on a sunny day surrounded by mountains that meet the shimmering lake water seamlessly. At the same time, boats sail by with a wave in our direction with that relaxed summer feeling and nostalgia. I grew up in this beautiful part of the world, and it is a peaceful place to write. Although this issue is not about upstate New York, we do have a fantastic movie and articles on the Adirondacks and surrounding areas on our website.
In this magazine, we highlight travel to Cancún, Mexico, and its surrounding areas, particularly Isla Mujeres. There is also a shopping excursion in Giverny, France, at a designer outlet, the Louvre Couture exhibit, and our insider's tips on how to secure the very hard-to-get ticket and more in Paris.
From a unique spin on the classic Mille Feuille recipe to a mesmerizing flower video, this issue is packed with diverse and captivating content that will surely pique your interest.
As a longtime fashion stylist for editorials, no issue would be complete without our 'Paris House boutique,' a virtual fashion destination showcasing stylish looks for all your travels, both near and far.
We have months of photo shoots, floral designs, and travel ahead for the magazine, and it will all be shared in our exclusive 'Sunday Guides,' a curated collection of articles and features to inspire you.
If you're interested in having an itinerary planned for you, you can find more details on our website.
I, along with my team, wish you a delightful summer and, hopefully, a chance to slow down and make memories with your loved ones.

Hyatt
Hyatt Hotels recently extended a special invitation to me to experience two of their exclusive properties, the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya and the Hyatt Ziva Riviera Maya. (please note that these are different resorts than the ones located in Cancun) These resorts, nestled on pristine stretches of white-sand beaches on the Caribbean Sea, offer a level of luxury and service that is truly unparalleled. Our rooms, complete with round-the-clock butler service, private pools, and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, were a testament to this exclusivity.
Both resorts, the Hyatt Zilara and the Hyatt Ziva, are all-inclusive. The Ziva, in particular, is designed with families in mind. For those traveling with children, there is a wealth of activities to keep them entertained and happy. From a kid's water zone to child-friendly menus and a variety of crafts and fun, the Ziva ensures that every member of the family has a memorable and enjoyable stay.
My husband and I were particularly enamored with the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya. The service was not only excellent but also personal, making us feel genuinely cared for. The food, incredibly fresh and delicious, catered to adults, offering fantastic evening entertainment, a gorgeous spa, a wedding venue, outstanding cocktails, and fine dining. It was a testament to the Hyatt's commitment to providing a truly memorable and personalized experience.

Ceviche Cooking Class, Zilara Riviera Maya
I enjoyed a delightful afternoon cooking class, where we made ceviche and made new friends! It was delicious!!!
In both hotels, our suites opened directly to our pool and stunning sea views. We enjoyed lunch on the terrace, taking in the spectacular sea views. It was paradise! Thank you, Hyatt Hotels, for this fantastic experience.

Please reach out to us to help you plan the perfect vacation. We will direct you to the proper team at Zilara and Ziva to ensure every detail is perfect. Or reach out to them directly and let them know The Paris House sent you and enjoy many perks!
Riviera Maya
We stayed in the Riviera Maya, which was more secluded and peaceful, a perfect fit for our travel aesthetic. While Cancun is a city renowned for its Hotel Zone and vibrant nightlife, the Riviera Maya is a region located south of Cancun, encompassing Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and several small towns. There are numerous attractions, including Mayan ruins, as well as a focus on luxury resorts and fine dining. Riviera Maya offers a more laid-back atmosphere with access to Playa del Carmen. We love the relaxed ambiance and stunning white-sand beaches of the Riviera Maya.

Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres (Island of Women) is a must-visit destination, easily accessible from Cancún in 30 minutes by boat. We chose a catamaran and enjoyed a leisurely voyage of snorkeling along the way. The Underwater Museum of Art, featuring more than 500 life-size sculptures by artist Jason de Caires Taylor, is a spectacular and popular attraction alongside the world's largest fish, the Whale Shark. The Caribbean Sea off Cancun, on the way to Isla Mujeres, has some of the most vibrant blue water we have ever seen. It was reminiscent of the Blue Grotto in Capri but in an open sea rather than a cave. It was spectacular. At only 5 miles long, you can cover the entire Island in a day, exploring its colorful buildings, cobblestone streets, white sand beaches, and panoramic sea views. We highly recommend Isla Mujeres.
Getting Around Isla Mujeres
Renting a golf cart in Centro the north end is a fun and popular way to explore the Island and a great way to see everything at your leisure. Wind your way to the south end of the Island for a quieter experience.
Video: Getting Around Isla Mujeres
Tequila Tasting
It's a must on Isla Mujeres! A highlight for us was the chocolate liquor, with its rich, deep chocolate flavor, which is the perfect addition to an upscale espresso martini with a twist. We love making ours with coconut tequila, Mexican crema, espresso, and chocolate liquor for the ideal dessert drink!
Dining
The Island has many resorts and restaurants. We ate at The Joint, located at the southern end of the Island, a boisterous, fun local bar with its reggae band. Enjoy fresh seafood, fantastic cocktails, and excellent entertainment. The crowd loves to take the microphone when the band is on break and get the party going! The buffalo shrimp and fresh fish tacos were outstanding, and we enjoyed ice-cold local cerveza and spicy pineapple jalapeno margaritas.
Another must while on the Island is Tikin Xic, a specialty fish dish with an achiote paste fresh off the grill.
Beautiful Sea Views
Enjoy some of the most stunning views from above as you wind your way around the Island.
Playa Norte is a gorgeous beach that has ice cream carts serving up delicious coconut ice cream.
Punta Sur, located on the southern end, boasts stunning views.
Sculpture Garden
A gorgeous walk along the seaside park with sculptures such as the famous Ixchel, Goddess of Moon, Fertility, Love, and Medicine. From sculptures, Mayan Ruins, and cliffside views of the sea, you won't want to miss this!
Shopping
There are plenty of shops with local handmade items to bring back home with you. I found a handpainted blue straw tote bag reminiscent of the vibrant blue Caribbean sea surrounding the Island.
Thank you
Thank you to Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya and Hyatt Zive Riviera Maya for hosting us in a glorious week in paradise.

Versailles
My recent day in Versailles was truly unique, spent in the company of William Vincent Mocerino, Marketing Tourism Executive of McArthurGlen Group, Village de Marques McArthurGlen Paris-Giverny France.
William and I began our day in Château Versailles, where we toured the Guillaume Bresson contemporary art exhibit. Then, it was off to the gorgeous Le Grand Contrôle, Airelles, for a delightful lunch.

Chateau Versailles, Guillaume Bresson Contemporary Art, Exhibition Palace of Versailles
During my recent visit to Chateau Versailles, arranged by William Vincent Mocerino, a Marketing Tourism Executive at McArthurGlen Group Giverny France, I had the pleasure of experiencing the extraordinary. Every detail of my days with William and his colleagues was perfectly planned. William suggested we attend the Guillaume Bresson exhibit, a unique blend of contemporary art housed in rooms of opulent period decor and hundred-plus-year-old artwork. Surprisingly, this combination was not jarring, but rather felt cohesive, as if centuries of violence in both art genres flowed flawlessly, allowing the viewer to interpret. This exhibit, with its thought-provoking elements, makes you think and pause for long moments, taking in every brilliant detail- the folds and creases on the clothing, expressions on the subjects faces, mysterious persons in the background. The violence sometimes felt like a ballet, both frightening and beautiful. As in all art and paintings, it is left to the individual to interpret, so I will leave you to form your thoughts. The article and photos below are courtesy of The Versailles Foundation. This and many other tours on our adventures together in Versailles and Giverny will be featured in our upcoming Paris House Sunday Guides magazine. Due to the timing of this exhibition, we want to share it with you before it closes. I hope it will travel to the States; I will be sure to update you if and when I receive more information.
I am deeply grateful to all those who were involved in making this day and the entire week in Paris truly unforgettable. Your efforts and contributions have left a lasting impression on me.
With warm regards, Michele, editor and chief

Food Notes
Indulge in the unique offerings, such as the Green Chartreuse Tequila Cocktail, the Amuse-Bouche of local wild broccoli, and the appetizer of pastry en croute with chicken foie gras, pistachio, and black truffles —and a signature dish by Alain Ducasse of seafood. We also enjoyed a refreshing mocktail made with lemon juice, bergamot syrup, and alcohol-free sparkling wine, which was outstanding. For dessert, Madagascar vanilla crème brûlée topped with hazelnuts and finished with a delightful Meringue strawberry yuzu.
Monet's Garden, Giverny France
William orchestrated a flawless day in Giverny. Cedric, in a stunning chauffeured BMW, whisked me away from my Parisian hotel to the enchanting Monet's Garden. The guided tour of the gardens and home was a delightful revisit, especially in the full bloom of May. The vibrant colors and serene beauty of the garden were truly inspiring, and I even incorporated them into a recent fashion photoshoot featured in this issue.
La Musardière, a charming hotel, and restaurant in Normandy, in the heart of Giverny
After our enchanting morning at Monet's home, we ventured to La Musardière for a delectable lunch in the picturesque village of Giverny, Claude Monet's Village. La Musardière, a refurbished 19th-century home, houses a charming boutique hotel and restaurant that offers a gastronomic experience under the guidance of Chef Benjamin and his team. The innovative mushroom cereal risotto paired perfectly with Chinon wine. For dessert, we enjoyed a mouth-watering walnut cake with whipped walnut cream. They were so delicious they left us craving more.
Giverny Lunch
People We Meet Along The Way, Chef and Hotelier Benjamin Revel of La Musardière
After our delightful lunch, we had the privilege of meeting Chef Benjamin Revel, a young and talented chef who has created a gastronomic experience in the heart of Giverny. Chef Revel graciously sat down with us, sharing his inspirations and ethos for the year-round menu that continues to draw people from around the world to his charming restaurant.
Paris House: Which regions inspire you?
Chef Revel: My inspirations are as diverse as the regions I've been fortunate to experience. From the enchanting Giverny to the place of my upbringing and the myriad of places I've lived and traveled, each has left an indelible mark on my culinary journey. This diversity of inspirations keeps my creativity flowing and my dishes constantly evolving.
Paris House: How do you keep your menu interesting and delicious?
Chef Revel: I keep my menu interesting and delicious by using seasonal ingredients. This not only ensures the freshness and quality of my dishes but also connects our guests to the natural rhythm of the changing seasons. I also create unique recipes that surprise guests with something new while also offering familiar favorites. The element of surprise is a key part of my culinary philosophy.
Paris House: How have you created a year-round successful business in a somewhat seasonal location?
Chef Revel: Our year-round success in a somewhat seasonal location is a testament to the power of word of mouth and the support of our residents. We've created a warm and welcoming space that invites people to dine with us, no matter the season. The fact that our guests recommend us to their friends and family is a testament to the quality of our food and service, and we value this support immensely.

Louvre Couture Paris
Louvre Couture, Napoleon's Apartment. The Louvre Couture Exhibition is one the most gorgeous fashion exhibitions of a lifetime. I secured a coveted ticket for $20!!! No lines and no waiting! Then, of course, cocktails, café, appetizers, and desserts at Le Café Marly, with a front-row view of the pyramid. (Although the exhibition will end this summer, there is still time to book that flight)
Spanning a vast 9,000-square-metre space, the exhibition unveils a truly unique and diverse collection of 65 designs, each with its own story to tell. These designs, along with several accessories, not only showcase the historical ties between fashion and art but also promise to pique your curiosity. Paris Café Tour
You may have heard of or visited some of the following Paris café recommendations. Or perhaps there will be a few new ones to add to your travel plans!
Café Amourette
Café Amourette in Passy features lovely views just a quick walk from the Eiffel Tower. I love the smoked salmon with creme fraiche and the cappuccino was very good. If you are looking for a quiet area far from crowds and something close to a landmark; this is perfect!
Café Amourette, 10 BD Delessert, 75016 Paris, France. “A quick walk from the Eiffel Tower.” “a quiet area.”
Café Aéro
Café Aéro is another lovely café in the Passy neighborhood, where the locals go and everyone seems to know each other. It’s not fancy and might need a little makeover in my opinion. However, the delicious croissants, coffee, and kind staff elevates it to a wonderful eatery. We will continue to go when we are in Passy. I miss my mornings there.
Café Aero, 3 Place de Passy, 75016 Paris France. “Delicious croissants”
Le Café Marly
Le Café Marly is one of the most iconic and gorgeous Parisian cafes! With fabulous views of the Louvre and Pyramids, along with fantastic service. Don’t miss the Chocolat Viennois, it is so delicious! The chocolate and whipped cream is out of this world and its rich chocolate flavor and whipped Chantilly cream are sophisticated and not overly sweet. We also enjoy ordering cheese and wine and relaxing here.
Le Café Marly, 93 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France. “Iconic. The chocolat viennois is out of this world”
Le Fumoir Café
Le Fumoir Cafe is a gem and a close walk from the Louvre. I adored the interior decor and the white wine was delicious. Pop into the nearby Bo & Mie Boulangerie Creative for breads and croissants. The feta olive bread and the passion fruit donut-croissants were so yummy!!!
Le Fumoir Café, “A gem.” “I adored the interior design.”
Le Passy Café
Le Passy Café is another delightful café in Passy! It was so lovely having a cup of coffee there. The flaky buttery croissants and this beautiful view of the Tour Eiffel are unforgettable moments.
Le Passy Café, 2 Rue de Passy, 75016 Paris, France. “The flaky buttery croissants are unforgettable.”
Café Fleurus
Café Fleurus is a charming petit café by Le Jardin du Luxembourg. The Lillet with tonic water, lemon and ice was so refreshing on a warm summer day.
Café Fleurus, 2 Rue de Fleurus, 75006 Paris, France. “Refreshing on a warm summer day.”

PARIS HOUSE KITCHEN
Mille Feuille
Recipe previously posted on Jersey Fresh & Dufour Pastry Kitchens
Mille Feuille Recipe shared by Michele Rosenthal of The Paris House
Recipe Notes and History: The Mille Feuille, also known as the Napoleon, is a classic French pastry enjoyed for centuries. It is traditionally made with puff pastry and cream (crème pâtissière). However, this recipe adds a unique twist using phyllo dough sheets brushed in melted butter. You can also use the classic puff pastry if you prefer. We recommend Dufour frozen puff pastry, which is a delicious option. We use a mix of fresh rhubarb and strawberries from our gardens and local farm markets, celebrating the vibrant flavors of each season. Cooking down the fruit in sugar makes a lovely "compote" for layering between sheets of buttery phyllo dough. Another variation in our recipe is in place of the pastry cream; this recipe uses a Chantilly cream (crème Chantilly); you can use whichever version you prefer. Living in the Garden State provides fresh seasonal produce, making cooking delicious and delightful. This is a wonderful dessert to serve in spring-summer when the rhubarb and strawberries are harvested and picked fresh.
Preheat oven to 375
Ingredients
8 Tablespoons Melted Butter (I prefer salted)
Phyllo Dough thawed
1lb Rhubarb chopped into ¼" pieces
1lb Strawberries hulled and quartered
¾ cup granulated sugar
Chantilly Cream Ingredients:
1 ½ cups Heavy Cream
2 Tablespoons granulated sugar; add more if you like sweeter whipped cream
1 teaspoon pure Vanilla Extract
Garnish
Fresh strawberries
Sprigs of Mint
Steps:
Melt butter
brush one sheet of phyllo dough with butter and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the remaining dough with a damp kitchen towel.
Repeat this step until you have four sheets of phyllo layered one on top of the other
Start again with one sheet of phyllo and brush each layer with melted butter until you have another four layers place assembled four layers by each other on a baking sheet.
You can make as much as you like, depending on how many servings you plan to serve. You may need more than one baking sheet.
Bake in the oven for approximately 15 minutes until golden brown. Keep a close eye on them so they don't burn.
Add sugar, strawberries, and rhubarb to the pan and cook until the fruit is tender (reserve some strawberries for garnish).
Prepare Chantilly Cream
Whisk all ingredients together until stiff peaks are formed. Using a clean stainless steel bowl and whisk beaters works great,
Cool phyllo dough and then cut each square into 4 quarters.
Place one square on a dessert plate, top with whipped cream and fruit compote, and repeat each step with four layers. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprig of mint, and drizzle reserved strawberry rhubarb juice around the outside of mille-feuille. Dust with confectioner sugar.
Note: If you choose to use puff pastry, roll out each slice and bake according to the directions. Then, cut into squares and follow the same format as above.

This is a beautiful book that takes you through Italy, one delicious bite at a time. Buy this book, cook from it, entertain often, and travel to Italy!
Shopgirls, Jessica Anya Blau
This novel introduces us to Zippy, a 19-year-old protagonist whose journey from a modest upbringing to a coveted job at the I-Magnin department store in San Francisco is both relatable and endearing. Zippy's likeability stems from her humble beginnings, growing up with her mom in a one-bedroom apartment above a liquor store. The book, with its undeniable charm; it lacks a clear narrative arc and features a somewhat unrealistic storyline. However, it's a fast read, and the brisk pace keeps you engaged. As she navigates life without college as an option, she often wonders about her birth father. You will find yourself rooting for Zippy until the very last word.

Binge Watch
Sirens
I'll be honest: I binge-watched this primarily for the Nantucket decor, fabulous kitchen, and beach location. I now want to paint my center island green! I will watch anything that Julianne Moore stars in, as she is one of my favorite actresses. It was silly, fun, and something to watch where you don't have to think; you follow along in a bit of confusion as it's all very ludicrous. The ending, unfortunately, was a letdown, and I'm sure many of you will agree. But upon reflection, I get it!
Collecting
The late 19th-century Carl Teilsch Altwasser Porcelain of Germany, a Divided red Lobster dish, dates to 1887. This part of my collection was a heartfelt gift from my children for Mother’s Day, making it all the more special. I also have a pink lobster-divided dish marked Limoge. They are not just gorgeous for display on an antique hutch or wall, but also spectacular for serving cold summer dips and lobster salads, each use is a reminder of the love and thoughtfulness that went into these gifts.

In The Garden with Paris House, Ask Gardener
Many years ago, we had a little show called "Bunny Live." It was so much fun. We filmed it live with Scripts I wrote and handed out to my Gardener and my son Sam, who filmed it. We had archaic technology, horrendous lighting, and audio, but we managed to do it. My son had it in some format, but I can no longer remember at this point. I don't even know what it was- it wasn't YouTube when we started! We had a blast - we made cocktails, had an "Ask Bunny" segment with my Gardener in our gardens, traveled, and enjoyed content on topics ranging from cooking and baking to fashion, beauty, and more. We laughed so hard and had the best time, and then it started evolving into other projects. We would film shows in Saratoga Springs, among other locations.
It was a lot of fun - so in the upcoming magazine that we're working nonstop on publishing, Gardener is going to be back and answering some gardening questions. He is a master gardener, and there is nothing he can't figure out or fix in the garden. We're excited to launch his segment; maybe one day, we'll bring back Bunny Live! For now, we'll stick to some fun behind-the-scenes stories and bloopers in our digital version of Sunday Guides by Paris House- On our journeys around the world and in the garden, where laughter and fun are always guaranteed.

Hi Tammy, first of all, I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulties growing strawberries and sugar snap peas. You're not alone. Many gardeners face similar challenges. Don't give up. Gardening has its share of ups and downs, making success all the sweeter.
There are several types of strawberries, but it is not unusual for most of them not to fruit in their first year. This process is beneficial, and many experts recommend having minimal fruit or no fruit (removing flowers) in the first year. Strawberries are a perennial crop, so establishment is crucial. The plant sends out runners, which are small plants without a fully developed root system. The 'babies' are getting the nutrients from the 'mother' plant for a while, so don't cut the runner cord. Remember, patience is key in gardening.
In the first year, one should concentrate on establishing the runners into the predetermined bed.
In the first year, it's best to concentrate on establishing the runners into the predetermined bed. The reason for this is that the majority of the plant's energy goes into fruit production, which is true for virtually all plants. By pulling the flowers, you're redirecting this energy towards the runners, making them stronger and more likely to produce a good crop of strawberries in the following years.
-Mulching helps to keep the moisture in the ground (or straw and keeps runners down at ground level to help their roots take into the soil. In the first month, ensure they don't dry out.
When winter comes to your area, cover the ground with a layer of straw to blanket it, and strawberries will be one of the first things you'll enjoy in spring! I do remove straws in the spring.
-General cleaning of dead leaves and runners every fall/spring prevents disease
-Strawberries like slightly acidic soil, so an acidic fertilizer like "Hollytone" is a nice addition
-Strawberry "B" Type appeals to less "patient" gardeners who may prefer the immediate satisfaction of fruit.
-In this case and type, experts recommend the removal of all runners so the energy can go to the fruit.
Sugar Snap Peas are a relatively early crop and tend to die off in the hot summer months. I recommend planting early, then feeding and watering regularly. Give it another try, and I am confident your seeds will result in delicious sugar snap peas. We have delightful pea puree recipes on the blog!!!
Spotlight Sunday Guides - Out And About With Paris House, NYC
I recently visited the reopened Frick Collection in New York City after a multi-year restoration project, its most extensive since its opening in 1983. It is spectacular. Along with the art, furnishings, and ceiling murals on the second floor (open to the public for the first time), there is a gorgeous gift shop featuring stunning jewelry, as well as a cafe that will be opening soon. A must-visit is the Porcelain Garden by Vladimir Kanevsky, which is on display until October 6th. The art is flawlessly paired with various works by Vladimir, and it is exquisite. From the Boucher room, with its masterful paintings, indoor garden, reflecting pool, and works by Turner, Rembrandt, Manet, Boucher, El Greco, and more, I was deeply moved.
While the Frick Museum is a place of beauty and inspiration, it also holds a sense of mystery. The museum's policy on photography is strict, except for the indoor garden and reflecting pool, adding to the allure of the museum. This exclusivity makes each visit a unique and personal experience, leaving you with a sense of anticipation and a desire to explore. Our collection of photos from The Frick, along with our home gardens, fashions, photo shoots, and events, offers a glimpse into the world of Paris House and a unique perspective on our company's offerings, highlighting how art and travel inspire our floral designs and all aspects of Paris House.
We are buzzing with excitement this season, and we love every aspect of it: our clients, projects, and Sunday Guides. We can't wait to share our passion for art, travel, and floral design with you all.
Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of floral design at our next event at Natirar, featuring a private dining experience. Our event styling is not to be missed, promising a unique and unforgettable experience for all floral enthusiasts.

Paris House Testimonial
Review by Paula Granger
The Paris House Sunday Guides, Edinburgh Scotland issue inspired us to find special places to enjoy tea, dinner, and unique historical experiences. A favorite is The Witchery, an unforgettable experience that we would not have had without Paris House magazine. We also enjoyed tea at The Balmoral, another wonderful day!
Paul, our guide at The Witchery, shared its rich history and unique features, leaving an indelible mark on us. His personal touch, which made us feel special and valued, made our visit truly magical. The ambiance, food, drinks, and service were all divine, making it an experience Scarlet and I will cherish forever.
It truly feels like a journey back in time, almost as if you've stepped into a scene from a medieval movie. Thanks again, Michele, for this enchanting recommendation.
We're already looking forward to our next visit to Edinburgh, where we plan to revisit The Witchery for another memorable experience. This time, we're excited to explore the garden for afternoon tea, a new experience we're eagerly anticipating.
