Shopping for unique pieces from Spanish designers and more at great prices, McArthurGlen

Stylish outfits at great prices from McArthurGlen, Malaga, Spain

I love finding unique brands on our travels around the world and then bringing those items back home. I collaborated recently with McArthurGlen Malaga designer shopping in an open air concept in Malaga Spain. Upon arriving, I asked Arina to show me the Spanish brands first to shop for desings that I could not find as easily in the state, where I could shop for clothes that I would bring back home to wear, and also could style on models for magazine, editorial, and portfolio. Such as this Simorra Official gorgeous dress.

I also found great items for my husband that he loves from Silbon Moda (I ordered more pieces online for him to have shipped to the states – more on that coming soon). I have a fascinating job and I’m very lucky because it changes every day. It’s always creative, fashionable, fun, and interesting! In this particular collaboration, we also spent the day at a local restaurant in Malaga and touring the Picasso Museum in Malaga, the birthplace of Picasso. More coming soon to Sunday Guides

Lobster Omelette

It's a luxurious dish perfect for holiday mornings or special dinners, and adding caviar can elevate its glamour, inspiring cooks to recreate and elevate it for memorable occasions.

Our recipes are designed for improvisation and embellishment, so feel free to add or remove ingredients to make the lobster omelette uniquely yours. This buttery cheese omelette with fresh Maine lobster, sourced in Portland, Maine, near our cottage, results in an outstanding dish you can customize to your taste.

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons of salted butter

6 to 8 extra-large organic eggs

A handful of minced parsley

1 cup of smoked Gouda cheese, grated

1 cup of sharp Vermont cheddar cheese, grated

1 cup of gruyere cheese, grated

Lobster, 1lb of shelled Maine lobster (feel free to add more)

(caviar and creme fraîche if desired)

Instructions:

Melt butter in a non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat

Gently whisk together eggs, salt, and pepper, and add to the pan. Using a spatula, lift the edges of the omelet while the pan is slightly tilted, and let the egg mixture move to the sides and under the omelet so it cooks evenly. Top with the three cheeses and lobster meat, being careful not to overcook the lobster, as it has already been steamed and should remain tender and flavorful. Also, do not overbrown the omelet. Slide onto a gorgeous platter, garnish with minced parsley. Top with a bit of caviar and creme fraîche, if desired, and serve.

Champagne is the perfect accompaniment for this dish!

Blue Cheese, Pear, Honey, Dufour Puff Pastry

Pre Heat oven to 400 degrees

Roll out puff pastry into a rectangle

Fold up edges to make a little crust

Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Top with crumbled blue cheese (like roquefort, stilton or gorgonzola)

Place thinly sliced pears on top

Bake until golden & bubbly

Check around 20 minutes – ovens vary in cooking!

Drizzle with honey

Cut into small slices

Pass on a silver tray with a glass of champagne, add a few pomegranate seeds for a festive touch!

DIY Snowman Cheeseball Recipe

Ingredients:

2 - 3 (8-ounce) blocks white cheddar cheese, shredded

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (8-ounce) container chive-and-onion cream cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper

(freshly ground pepper and sea salt to taste)

Combine 16 ounces of shredded cheddar along with the remaining ingredients in a bowl and chill for at least an hour.

Shape into a snowman using our photo as a guide, rolling each ball into varying shapes and adding additional white shredded cheese.

Get creative and have fun using whole cloves, raisins, black olives, thinly peeled celery, a carrot for a nose, and anything else you may wish. We make the hat out of pumpernickel bread cut into various-sized circles. This playful approach will make your festive table feel lively and inspire your own creative touches.

This recipe is inspired by one from many years ago in Martha Stewart Living magazine. We use a Paris House cheeseball recipe. Serve with gourmet crackers. Knowing its classic roots can make your creation feel special and memorable.

Crabmeat Macadamia Wontons

Delicious hors d’oeuvres, perfect for holiday entertaining

Ingredients:

Wonton wrappers

16 ounces of cream cheese

1lb of excellent quality lump crabmeat

Two scallions finely chopped

½ cup of chopped macadamia nuts

1 teaspoon of sea salt or kosher salt

1 teaspoon of freshly ground pepper

Pinch of cayenne pepper

Feel free to add a pinch of garlic or onion powder, too!

We do not use freshly minced ginger in this recipe as we feel it overpowers it. We have a fantastic scallop dumpling recipe we use and will share soon!

Canola or Vegetable oil for frying

We serve with both a side of plum sauce and Thai sweet chili sauce

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients above

Add a generous spoonful to the center of each wonton

Brush the edges of the wontons and fold each side up together like a purse. Pinch the top together and use fork tines to secure each wonton decoratively.

We use a large fry daddy, which we fill with oil to the line inside. We fry only about five at a time until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and serve warm with the side sauces.

Use extreme caution when frying, and make sure no children are in reach of the fryer!

Paris House Book Review

My Husband by Maud Ventura

From the first page to the last sentence, My Husband is a captivating read. Its compelling narrative and well-crafted prose make it a true page-turner.

It’s a story where love and obsession intersect, creating a false reality and leaving us readers in a state of shock. This leaves you guessing until the last sentence, which makes you think way beyond after the book is closed.

If you’re not afraid to be a little disturbed, then this is the book for you. This book comes highly recommended by the Northshire bookstore staff selections in Manchester, Vermont, and they were spot on. It is indeed a page turner.

The Croaking Machine by Michele Rosenthal

The Croaking Machine by Michele Rosenthal is a very excited little toad who croaks very, very loudly when he gets excited about something. This doesn't always go over well with his friends and classmates - especially when his loud croaking gets the class in trouble. Through all his troubles, his best friend Stella is always there for him.

This is a story about being different than everyone else - and accepting the differences of others. It shows that sometimes our unique traits and qualities can save the day and make us true heroes in the end.

The Book Club Dinner Party

The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

Before listening to this in audio format, we highly recommend reading the book first because it highlights its beautiful prose and encourages you to engage deeply; it is glorious!

"The Alchemist is a novel by Paulo Coelho about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who journeys from Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of treasure.

Along the way, he learns to listen to his heart, read omens, and follow his dreams, discovering that the true treasure is the wisdom and personal growth he finds on his quest. This inspiring story emphasizes that pursuing your destiny can lead to profound self-discovery and fulfillment.” Adapted from Goodreads

Binge Watch

PBS has wonderful shows that are a bit more mainstream. We highly recommend The Durells if you have not already watched it. The series has gorgeous settings overlooking the Ionian Sea, which transported us back to Corfu, one of our favorite islands in Greece. It’s lovely.

Ask Gardener

The Winter Garden, what should we be doing in the Winter to prepare our garden for Spring?

The garden may be sleeping in the Winter months, but that does not mean the garden season has ended - it means different needs help ensure a gorgeous Spring, Summer, and Fall season ahead. Learn how to identify which plants, like roses and topiaries, need pruning now to promote healthy growth later.

The top 10 things to do in Winter:

1. Fertilize all evergreens with Hollytone to help them stay healthy and vibrant over the Winter, making you feel accomplished in supporting your garden's health.

2. Wiltproof

3. Prune dead or diseased rose canes

4. Prune, rake, and deadhead other plants and flowers

5. Plant bulbs before the ground freezes

6. Create a small indoor garden if you have a space for it

7. Force branches, such as forsythia, peach, and apple blossoms

8. Force Amaryllis and paper whites in porcelain dishes and terra-cotta pots to enjoy through the holidays and into the winter season

9. Grow beautiful, meticulously pruned topiaries in your windowsill

10. Bring in and store all delicate pots before the frost

Five Ways to Stay Fit Through the Holidays (Without Missing the Fun)

By Tina Baker

The holidays are meant for connection, joy, and a little indulgence — not for guilt or all-or-nothing thinking. Fitness during this season isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency and grace. Here are five realistic ways to stay on track while still enjoying every moment.

1. Move Daily — Even If It’s Just for Ten Minutes.

You don’t need an hour-long workout to stay active. A quick strength circuit, a brisk walk, or even dancing while cooking keeps your energy up and stress down. The key? Keep moving — it all adds up.

2. Plan Your Treats.

Instead of saying no to everything, choose your yeses. If you love your mom’s pecan pie, have a slice and savor it. Mindful indulgence beats mindless snacking every time.

3. Keep Strength Training Non-Negotiable.

Lifting weights isn’t just for January’s Resolutions. Strength training helps your metabolism, keeps your posture tall, and balances out those extra holiday calories. Even two sessions a week make a difference.

4. Hydrate (More Than You Think).

Between cocktails, salty foods, and travel, dehydration creeps in fast. Keep a water bottle nearby and drink a full glass before every meal or event. Your body — and skin — will thank you.

5. Give Yourself Grace.

One off day doesn’t undo your progress. If you miss a workout or overdo the eggnog, just pick back up tomorrow. Progress is built on consistency, not perfection.

Staying fit through the holidays isn’t about restriction — it’s about showing up for yourself in small, sustainable ways. Move your body, eat what you love (mindfully), and remember that health isn’t seasonal.

Spotlight Sunday Guides, Out And About with Paris House

Out and about in Haddon Heights, NJ, at Lula's Empanadas Grand Opening!!!

Located at 516 Station Ave, Haddon Heights, NJ @lulasempanadas

Food Notes:

The empanadas are outrageously delicious, and I'm so happy for their success on grand opening day! The variety is what makes them stand out, from excellent, savory options like chorizo, buffalo chicken, and barbecue pork to sweet delights. We love them all. My husband loved all of them, including the Philly cheesesteak. There are other items on the menu as well, with their homemade iced tea! There is plenty of seating out front, inside, and in the back area with a charming take-out window. The decor is in my favorite color, pink, with adorable hand-painted murals in the happiest space. I know you will love it. Highly recommend incorporating this into a trip to #Philly.

Fashion Notes:

Let's talk about fashion! My boots are not just boots; they are a statement. They will elevate your wardrobe, and I highly recommend the gold chain —it's fabulous. The skirt is old, but it's a timeless piece and I tracked down a few sizes for you: 0, 2, 4, 6! It's in the most sumptuous, gorgeous Italian satin! All shopping details are on our website home page.

Travel Notes:

Conveniently located near Philadelphia, with a train station just a stone's throw away, Lula's Empanadas is the perfect stop for any foodie. The charming setting, nestled next to a quaint coffee shop, adds to the overall experience. It's a place that's easy to get to and even easier to enjoy.

Gramercy Tavern

Gramercy Tavern, one of America’s great restaurants, is wonderful year-round, but in our opinion, it is at its finest during the autumn season and holidays. The seasonal, cozy menu and exceptional cocktails are meticulously crafted to delight, making each visit feel special and memorable. If the menu and cocktails weren’t enough to keep you coming back again and again, Florist Roberta Bendavid has been creating extraordinary floral designs for decades at Gramercy Tavern. Roberta’s iconic floral installations are as memorable as the food. Located in a landmark building, it will have you feeling as if you entered a tavern in New England.

Fadist Melides Portugal

Fadist Melides Portugal creates fresh traditional recipes in an adorable location; the interiors feature the local landmark colors of white and blue, leaving you relaxed and happy. The garlic shrimp, local beer, and fresh Portuguese bread were delicious! For dessert, it was a family and generational recipe; the dessert is called "Sericaia" and is traditional from Alentejo. Be sure to try their signature seafood platter and homemade pastries, which are highly recommended.
